Berlin is worth a visit during all seasons. There is always something happening. Well or less known events take place throughout the year.  January   The first month of the new year combats the winter with a big event: the Green Week. Here agricultural products from around the world are presented. The Green Week is interesting n ot only for trade visitors, but also for the general public. Here you can taste and buy victuals from all over the world. The Floral Hall brings, in the dead of winter, spring to your hearts. The International Green Week , always takes place at Messe Berlin. February   In February, the red carpet is rolled out in Berlin for ten days. It's time for the Berlinale . International movie stars and starlets are then in Berlin and if you are lucky you can even meet them!  This famous film festival has been around for over 60 years. During the autrumn Berlin houses many diversified events.The dark seasons begins and Berlin starts to light up.  September  The Berlin Marathon attracts sport enthusiasts from around the world. No wonder, because it is one of the biggest marathons in the world! It takes place usually the last weekend in September. October   On 3. October a party takes place around the Brandenburg Gate and on Straße des 17. Juni to celebrate the Day of German Reunification . The Festival of Lights in October enchants everybody. Attractions, and other buildings, are colorfully illuminated as soon as it gets dark. November  During this misty season it is especially nice to listen to fairy tales and this you can do in abundance at the Berlin Fairy Tale Days (Berliner Märchentage). A ride on the underground - the U2

The U2, (I promise it has nothing to do with the band) is one of Berlin's oldest underground lines. It was opened before World War II and runs from Pankow to Ruhleben. That means it runs throughout the city of former East Berlin to former West Berlin. On its way it passes many interesting places and is so a very comfortable and quick line for visitors . The first few stops lie in Prenzlauer Berg , a very hip district. Then it passes Alexanderplatz , where are so many things to discover.  Marienkirche und Fernsehturm The next stops : Klosterstraße, Märkisches Museum (the museum about Berlin's history), Spittelmarkt, Hausvogteiplatz, Stadtmitte and Mohrenstraße all lie in Berlins center where you will find many of Berlin's attractions. Useful Information about Berlin - typical food

Today I want you to introduce to typical Berlin food. Currywurst, Boulette and Döner are the most popular dishes.You will find them almost everywhere in town. But what are these specialties exactly and what are they made of?   Currywurst, Boulette and Döner We Berliners love especially currywurst, a sausage in a sauce consisting of ketchup and curry. Other typical sausages are bockwurst and bratwurst (fried sausage). Another typical dish is boulette.This meat dish is only called boulette in Berlin. In other parts of Germany it is called frikadelle. Kofta is the Middle East version. I recommend you to try a Döner. It is a Turkish dish, that was invented in Berlin . You can get it nearly everywhere in Berlin, but especially in Neukölln and Kreuzberg.   For those vegetarians among you, there are meatless versions of these dishes. Useful information about Berlin - getting around

Getting around in Berlin is easy. We have got a train service, (the S-Bahn), busses, trams and an underground train service. With them you can reach the suburbs of Berlin and some places in  Brandenburg.  Bus stop at Mehringdamm  On the  BVG  website you can plan your own routes.  Busses normally run every 10 minutes, sometimes every 20 minutes. During the night special busses on special routes (the N busses) run from 23.00 till 7.00 in the morning. During the week underground trains run from 4.00-1.00 in the morning, about every 5-10 minutes. During the weekend they run 24 hours.   By train Berlin has an extensive network of stations for long-distance, local and regional services. The largest station is Hauptbahnhof, (Central Station) which opened in 2006. There is also a tourist information center . Automatic timetable 0800 150 70 90 (Toll-free landline only in German) All train stations are connected to the S-Bahn that allows you to travel easily into the city. By bus The Central Bus Station Berlin (ZOB) for domestic and international long distance buses to and from Berlin, is located at Masurenallee in Charlottenburg. The nearest S-Bahn station is Berlin Messe / ICC, the nearest subway station Kaiserdamm (U2). By plane   Berlin has two airports, Tegel and Schönefeld.
