During the autrumn Berlin houses many diversified events.The dark seasons begins and Berlin starts to light up.
September
The Berlin Marathon attracts sport enthusiasts from around the world. No wonder, because it is one of the biggest marathons in the world! It takes place usually the last weekend in September.
October
On 3. October a party takes place around the Brandenburg Gate and on Straße des 17. Juni to celebrate the Day of German Reunification.
The Festival of Lights in October enchants everybody. Attractions, and other buildings, are colorfully illuminated as soon as it gets dark.
November
During this misty season it is especially nice to listen to fairy tales and this you can do in abundance at the Berlin Fairy Tale Days (Berliner Märchentage). This adorable event takes place at various locations in Berlin.
December
At the end of the year Berlin gives its best. It is the festive season and big and small Christmas markets attract Berliners and their guests. Especially popular are the Christmas market at Breitscheidtplatz and the Christmas market at Gendarmenmarkt. This Christmas market is rather exclusive and you must pay a small fee, but it's just gorgeous! The year ends with a spectacular party on New Year's Eve at Brandenburg Gate.
