Berlin's Top Sights

Berlin is worth a visit during all seasons. There is always something happening. Well or less known events take place throughout the year.  January   The first month of the new year combats the winter with a big event: the Green Week. Here agricultural products from around the world are presented. The Green Week is interesting n ot only for trade visitors, but also for the general public. Here you can taste and buy victuals from all over the world. The Floral Hall brings, in the dead of winter, spring to your hearts. The International Green Week , always takes place at Messe Berlin. February   In February, the red carpet is rolled out in Berlin for ten days. It's time for the Berlinale . International movie stars and starlets are then in Berlin and if you are lucky you can even meet them!  This famous film festival has been around for over 60 years. Of course, you can watch movies as well! March   In March it's time to think about your next vacation.

During the autrumn Berlin houses many diversified events.The dark seasons begins and Berlin starts to light up.  September  The Berlin Marathon attracts sport enthusiasts from around the world. No wonder, because it is one of the biggest marathons in the world! It takes place usually the last weekend in September. October   On 3. October a party takes place around the Brandenburg Gate and on Straße des 17. Juni to celebrate the Day of German Reunification . The Festival of Lights in October enchants everybody. Attractions, and other buildings, are colorfully illuminated as soon as it gets dark. November  During this misty season it is especially nice to listen to fairy tales and this you can do in abundance at the Berlin Fairy Tale Days (Berliner Märchentage). The U2, (I promise it has nothing to do with the band) is one of Berlin's oldest underground lines. It was opened before World War II and runs from Pankow to Ruhleben. That means it runs throughout the city of former East Berlin to former West Berlin. On its way it passes many interesting places and is so a very comfortable and quick line for visitors . The first few stops lie in Prenzlauer Berg , a very hip district. Then it passes Alexanderplatz , where are so many things to discover.  Marienkirche und Fernsehturm The next stops : Klosterstraße, Märkisches Museum (the museum about Berlin's history), Spittelmarkt, Hausvogteiplatz, Stadtmitte and Mohrenstraße all lie in Berlins center where you will find many of Berlin's attractions.
