Useful Information about Berlin - typical food

Today I want you to introduce to typical Berlin food. Currywurst, Boulette and Döner are the most popular dishes. You will find them almost everywhere in town. But what are these specialties exactly and what are they made of?

 Currywurst, Boulette and Döner
We Berliners love especially currywurst, a sausage in a sauce consisting of ketchup and curry. Other typical sausages are bockwurst and bratwurst (fried sausage). Another typical dish is boulette. This meat dish is only called boulette in Berlin. In other parts of Germany it is called frikadelle. Kofta is the Middle East version. I recommend you to try a Döner. It is a Turkish dish, that was invented in Berlin. You can get it nearly everywhere in Berlin, but especially in Neukölln and Kreuzberg.
For those vegetarians among you, there are meatless versions of these dishes.

"Pfannkuchen" is a doughnut filled with jam. In other parts of Germany it is called "Berliner". Quite confusing, isnt'it?

At these food stalls you can often meet a real Berliner and sometimes you can hear how they speak their dialect. Berliners also love Asian and Arabic food, like falafel and you will find places that serve these dishes everywhere. You see, you won’t starve in Berlin.
