Märkisches Museum
This museum has excellent town models of Berlin as well as pictures, weapons, coins and artefacts about Berlin’s history. It is housed in a building that resembles a cathedral, but was really built to house the Märkisches Museum!

The Story of Berlin
The Story of Berlin is a multimedia museum. In 20 theme rooms you will learn about Berlin's past from the Middle Ages to the fall of the Berlin wall. Among the exhibits you can study the contrast between a typical Berlin backyard and a Berlin salon in the 19th century. See how life was in Berlin during World War II and the divided city. You can also make a guided tour through a nucelar bomb shelter that is left from the Cold War, an experience that could you make feel a little bit unconfortable!

Germany was devided into the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR for over 40 years. In this museum you can learn about the history of the GDR the interactive way. You can experience the most common car in the GDR, the Trabi, through a driving simulator, stay in an original GDR living room, learn about the education system, and of course, you will also find out about the Stasi.

You will find more GDR history in the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg.
Here you can experience the history of the German capital in a scary way. Actors accompany you through your journey through Berlin’s dark past. You will meet a bunch full of “nice” caracters like Pater Roderich and the mass murderer Carl Grossmann, a torturer and the White Lady, who haunted Berlin’s castle. You will cross the Spree to escape the plaque and you will be part of the revolution of 1848.
