Useful information about Berlin - Shopping

Berlin is a shopping paradise! The capital offers something for every budget, from shops where you can buy things for one Euro, to expensive and exclusive shops like Quartier 206 on Friedrichstrasse or the French department store Lafayette.
Of course, the KaDeWe and Kurfürstendamm are a must for shopaholics.

Apart from the KaDeWe, there are other stores in Berlin. I recommend you to visit the following department stores: Galeria Kaufhof at Alexanderplatz, Karstadt at Kurfürstendamm and Hermannplatz.

Shops are generally open from Monday - Friday until  20:00. Some large supermarkets close at 22:00. You can buy food and drinks at food stores called Spätkauf, also called Späti. They are usually open late at night and on Sundays.

Supermarkets located at the main train stations are open on Sundays, too
   Shopping Centers
Berlin has numerous shopping centers. The Arkaden at Potsdamer Platz and the Alexa at Alexanderplatz are just two examples. They are located in popular tourist areas. The Schlosstraße in the south of Berlin (Steglitz) is not quite as expensive as Kurfürstendamm and has a good selection of shops and several shopping centers, like the Boulevard of Berlin and "Das Schloss"(The Castle). Brand new and exclusive is Bikini Haus, an old Shopping Center from the 50's, that was redeveloped in 2014. In September 2014 opened, near Potsdamer Platz, another shopping center - Mall of Berlin.

Markets and Flea Markets

Each district has its weekly market. On the Turk's Market at Maybachufer you realize how multicultural Berlin really is.

A stroll around a flea market is an experience which you should't miss at any case during your stay in Berlin.
